Angolan Party MPLA Announces Politic Bureau Composition

The ruling Angola''s Popular Liberation Movement (MPLA) will today announce the composition of its politic bureau and secretariat in keeping with the country''s statutes, after holding its Seventh Ordinary Congress last week.

Organizers report that those taking part, besides the president of the party, are: members of the bureau of the vice president, the general secretary, the coordinator of the Commission of Discipline and Auditing of the Central Committee, the head of the parliamentary group, the first national secretary of the Youth of MPLA (JMPLA) and the general secretary of the Organization of Angolan Women (OAW).

According to the statutes, the politic bureau may have a number of members corresponding to 15 percent of the central committee. The percentage amounts to 54 members, who are proposed by the party's president; the president also chooses the vice president and general secretary.

With his re-election as leader of the MPLA, Dos Santos will be the candidate of his political party for the elections in 2017.
