New China-LatAm alliance will change history, says Venezuelan president
"This is a meeting of civilizations like the one they spoke of 10 years ago, a historic meeting in the struggle of peoples who refused to conform to servitude based on colonialism," Maduro said at the forum's opening ceremony in the Chinese capital.
Maduro argued that the alliance was an historic opportunity for a more egalitarian world, a world where no one power controls natural resources or uses financial or currency strategems to subdue and blackmail other countries.
Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that China has set the goal of raising its investment in Latin America up to $250 billion in the next 10 years and reach bilateral trade worth $500 billion -double the current figure- over the same period.
