FARC-EP in Favor of Prompt Peace Accord with Colombian Government
The top leader of the FARC-EP, Timoleon Jimenez, said his representatives in the peace talks were working to speed up such talks and to reach an agreement with the Government as soon as possible, the journal Semana reported today.
Both delegations (government and rebels spokesmen) will resume talks in Havana with a new method of work that would give greater dynamism to such meetings initiated since 2012 to find a political solution to the internal war.
We are not based on dates, we are working to speed up peace talks and to reach a final agreement as soon as possible, Jimenez said to the journal Semana.
Referring to the prospects of the FARC-EP, Jimenez stated that the goal is to lay down the arms and to start doing politics after the implementation of the agreement reached in negotiations.
Jimenez denied rumors about an alleged handing over of the country to the FARC-EP as a result of the talks held in the Cuban capital.
