Havana, Jul 5 (Prensa Latina) German director Tomas Gabrish will lead the first summer concert of the National Symphony Orchestra at the Covarrubias Hall in the National Theater, said a statement today.

Gabrish will lead the Symphony Number Five by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, said a statement issued by the office for Public Relations and Promotion of the orchestra.

Outstanding Cuban guitarist Joaquin Clerch will also participate in the concert scheduled for Sunday at 11:00 am with his "Concierto de Caceres".

The National Symphony Orchestra will resume regular concerts following its performances at the 4th Meeting of Young Pianists, playing along with 14 foreign and Cuban participants in 16 concerts.

The National Symphony Orchestra, headquartered at the Auditorium Amadeo Roldan, develops an important work for promoting the music from Cuba, Latin America and the rest of the world, without excluding music styles.

Amid directors invited to work with the National Symphony Orchestra are Zenaida Romeu, Ivan del Prado, Elena Herrera, Guido Lopez-Gavilan, Jorge Lopez Marin, Leo Brouwer and its current director Enrique Perez Mesa.
