Coinciding with Fidel Castro''s 89th birthday, the film "Rebeldes. Y así seguimos" (Rebels. And we still are) will be premiered here, outlining the situation in Cuba and an approach to the historic leader of the Revolution. The launching will take place tomorrow in the central Gaumont movies of the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts, and the occasion will also be used to celebrate the birthday of the revolutionary leader.

Produced by Carlos Javier Rodriguez, a Cuban journalist who lives in Argentina, with Craneo film company, the film shows how the Cubans see their own reality as of opinions by common citizens, economists, profesionals, and culture exponents.

Musicalized by Santiago Feliu and Silvio Rodriguez, the documentary depicts some little known aspects of the Cuban revolutionary process and its impact on the daily life of its people.

The director, who also shot the documentary film "Che en todas partes" (Che everywhere), also deals with the impact of the restoration of relations with the United States, and the updating of the economy in the island and the expectations it generates.

It also seeks tax and business changes, the validity of socialism, and especially the figure of Fidel Castro through assessment by Cubans and international renowned personalities.

Among those interviewed are sexologist Mariela Castro, theologian and intellectual Frei Betto, journalist and writer Ignacio Ramonet, Nobel Peace Prizewinner Adolfo Perez Esquivel and TV host Victor Hugo Morales.

The filmmaker also interviewed renowned pianist and composer Frank Fernandez, Cuban music diva Omara Portuondo and actor Jorge Perugorría, among others.

This film also pays tribute to late Cuban singer Santiago Feliu, who especially sang a song for the film that he composed about Fidel Castro, which has remained unpublished.
