Camerata Romeu, directed by Zenaida Castro Romeu, will give a concert today at the Alicia Alonso Grand Theater of Havana, where they will perform a varied repertoire.

During the recital, scheduled for 17:00 hours, local time, the chamber orchestra will present a special program that they will play at the prestigious Oslo Chamber Music Festival, in Norway.

In the first part of the concert, the all-women band will play pieces by the German composer Johann Sebastian Bach, followed by more contemporary works by Astor Piazzola (Argentina), Arturo Marquez (Mexico), and Roberto Valera, Carlos Fariñas and Ernan Lopez-Nussa (Cuba).

Camerata Romeu's performance is part of a series of jazz concerts taking place this month at the Grand Theater, organized by the Cuban Music Institute, with performances by Hernan Lopez-Nussa and the Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela in the coming days.

Established more than two decades ago, Camerata Romeu has been one of the great protagonists of Cuba's cultural life, and has been internationally acclaimed for the way they perform. Among the group's CDs are 'La Bella Cubana' , 'Danza de las Brujas' and the live album 'Tampa-Habana-Oslo'.
