Young Cuban artists and writers, brought together in the Hermanos Saiz Association (AHS), have joined several organizations that have condemned the policy change towards the Caribbean island announced by U.S. President Donald Trump recently.

During the AHS National Council, the artists declared their support for the message from the National Association of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC) against the 'manipulative' speech given by the Republican leader on June 16 in Miami.

The members of the Association recalled the statements by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, to the intellectuals in 1961, a speech that marked the cultural policy of the process that began in 1959, local television reported.

The AHS members also defended their right to sovereignty in the field of culture.

During the meeting, Cuban Culture Minister Abel Prieto learned about the artists' concerns regarding the promotion and recognition of their works.

He emphasized the search for alternatives to finance high-quality works. The AHS was founded on October 18, 1986, as a result of the Raul Gomez Garcia Brigade, which brought together art instructors and experts, the New Song Movement, and the Hermanos Saiz Brigade.

The Association was named after the brothers Sergio and Luis Saiz Montes de Oca, two young intellectuals who were assassinated in 1957 by the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship.
