Silvio Rodriguez to Offer Concert in Old Havana

Cuban renowned trobadour and songwriter Silvio Rodriguez will offer a concert in the Church of San Francisco de Asis, Old Havana, being this the 84th concert as part of his tour ''Gira por Los Barrios'' (Tour by the Neighborhoods), scheduled for June 30, said local websites in this capital Wednesday.

The personal website of Silvio Rodriguez, called Zurron del Aprendiz, said the concert was scheduled for 19:00 local time, organized in support to the campaigns of the Cuban Public Health Ministry for prevention of sicknesses.

Rodriguez will be musically accompanied by group FRASIS, Niurka Gonzalez (Flute and Clarinet), Jorge Reyes (Bass), Oliver Valdes (Drums and Percussion) and Trio Tovarroco,

In 2010, this famous Cuban trobadour started a tour on zones of the city of Havana and other Cuban provinces, with the purpose to take his artistic work, and the work of others, to the places where it is most needed, so the audiences can share their music.

Because of such a project, Rodriguez recently deserved a CUBADISCO Award of Honor, granted by the Cuban Music Institute.

The intiative of the Gira por Los Barrios Tour came to the municipality of San Miguel del Padron last month, with Cuban group Interactivo as a guest.
