Cuba wants all renewable energy may represent 24% of total production by 2030.

The existing demonstrative wind farms —located in different areas of the island— confirm Cuba has the right conditions to develop this sort of alternative energy and thus reduce its dependence on other sources of energy such as oil.

The outstanding results achieved in the wind farms in Tariguano (Ciego de Avila province), Gibara (Holguin province), and Los Canarreos (Isle of Youth special municipality) have led to future explorations next year to determine other places where this kind of energy can be operated.

On the other hand, seven out of the thirteen wind farms projected for 2017 were presented at the Havana´s International Fair as part of the updated Cuba´s foreign investment business portfolio.

With the aim of meeting such expectations, Cuban and American technicians met last December 12 in Washington to bridge gaps in the renewable energy and power efficiency fields.
