US Secretary of Health to arrive in Cuba on working visit

Sylvia Burwell, United States Secretary of Health and Human Services, will attend the Regional Meeting on Zika and other mosquito-borne diseases to take place in Havana next October 20-21.

The General Director of the United States Department at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Josefina Vidal announced in her twitter account that Burwell will be in Cuba on a working visit from October 20 through the 22.

The US official travels to Cuba as part of the process to normalize relations between Cuba and the United States, and hers is one of the seven high level exchanges between the two countries in October and November

His Cuban counterpart, Doctor Roberto Morales, traveled to the US last June and they held official talks. That same month the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate in the health sector.

The Regional Meeting on Zika and other mosquito-borne diseases is organized by the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Cuban Health Ministry and its main venue will be the Havana´s Hotel Nacional.
