Cuban general comptroller Gladys Bejerano said that actions aimed at fighting social and economic indiscipline, illegal behavior and corruption are not yet having the appropriate impact.

Bejerano presented her report during a meeting of the Council of Ministers, headed by President Raul Castro.

The analysis of criminal acts that occur at economic entities reveals that the actions implemented have not yet had the desired impact, since in some companies there is still prevailing lack of control and impunity, said the minister cited by Granma newspaper.

Such illegal actions concentrate in local entities, particularly in the areas of domestic trade and gastronomy, said the minister and added that such behavior is the result of those who get together to commit crime or disregard ethics in their own benefit and in the benefit of third persons.

The failure of internal control systems, the disregard of roles and duties and the inappropriate use of faculties by directives or officials were also factors addressed by the minister as causes to the illegalities.
