From September 4 to 30 the nomination of candidates for delegates to the municipal assemblies of the People’s Power will take place as part of the first stage of general elections in Cuba.

According to Tomas Amaran, vice-president of the National Electoral Commission, for the first day they will be assemblies in each municipality, and for the second one they will be at the Popular Councils.

Amaran pointed out that in the rest of the first week assemblies will not exceed 10% of the total to be held in the municipalities; the largest amount is concentrated between the second and the third week, as the latter will have the least number.

In the nomination assemblies, neighbors can freely propose and be proposed, based their merits, capacity and commitment with the people.
