The Cuban state budget managed to guarantee the financial demands for social services while supporting the funding required in the productive sphere, noted the Minister of Finance and Prices, Lina Pedraza.

Before the deputies gathered together in plenary during the ninth session, Pedraza presented the results of the state budget of 2016.

In public health and social assistance, 10. 5 billion pesos were expended, 28 percent of the total current expenditure of the budgeted activity.

The document states that this is expressed among other indicators in the birth rate that Cuba exhibits of 10.4 born alive per every thousand inhabitants.

Likewise, resources were devoted to sanitation and elimination of vectors and protection for economic inadequacy of 179, 796 people was guaranteed.

Education accounts for 22 per cent of total of expenditures of the budgeted activity and it was executed at 99.7 percent of that planned.

The report specified that the fiscal deficit amounted to 6.1 billion pesos less than that approved at 97 million pesos.

Regarding the central budget, the report indicated that it closed with a surplus of 1,712 million pesos, which is lower than that planned for 1,3 billion pesos, because of failure to comply with the revenues.

The Parliamentary Committee on Economic Affairs, in its report on the implementation of the budget for 2016, stressed that the economic context of this stage was characterized by strong financial tensions associated with non-compliance with external revenues and the impact of the economic blockade imposed by United States.
