The parliamentary leader meets a one-week program in this Asian nation, invited by his counterpart Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, as part of frequent high-level contacts between both nations whose diplomatic ties began on December 2, 1960.

In the official agenda are included a speech to the Legislature in Hanoi, talks with other high-ranking leaders, and visits to some places of socioeconomic interest in the provinces of Son La (north) and Ben Tre (south), as well as in the southern Ho Chi Minh city , among other activities.

Cuban delegation is made up of the ANPP's International Relations Committee President, Yolanda Ferrer, the Head of Constitutional and Legal Affairs, Jose Luis Toledo, the Head of the Cuba-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, Joaquin Bernal, as well as Caridad Diego, member of the ANPP's International Relations Committee.

Esteban Lazo, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), visited Vietnam few days after Defense Minister Ngo Xuan Lich met in Havana where he was welcomed by Cuban President Raul Castro and other officials.

In addition, leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam (PCV) and the PCC held a theoretical seminar here last month, where they had the opportunity of exchanging experiences on socialist construction, a meeting focused on the analysis of documents of the congresses of the respective organizations.

In the case of the bilateral ties between the two legislative bodies, it is highlighted the official visit of Vice President Tong Thi Phong to Cuba last February, during which she held talks with Lazo.
