China and Cuba Review Cooperation in Telecommunications

Cuban First Deputy Communications Minister, Jorge Luis Perdomo, and Chinese First Deputy Minister of the Cyberspace Administration, Wang Xiujun, have reviewed cooperation in this area here, it was reported today.

According to the embassy of the Caribbean island in this nation, both officials met on May 19th at the headquarters of that Chinese entity settled in this capital.

During the meeting, both stressed the collaboration the two governments have been developing in this area of vital importance at the bilateral level, based on the memorandum of understanding signed in July 2014, within the framework of President Xi Jinping's State visit to Cuba.

They also highlighted the coincidence of positions in this area in the multilateral context, in which the two countries promote the establishment of international regulations that allow an adequate governance of cyberspace.

Perdomo, who was accompanied by the Cuban ambassador to this country, Miguel Angel Ramirez, thanked Wang for the support the Chinese government have been offering to cooperation between Chinese and Cuban companies in telecommunications and Internet.

The Cuban first deputy minister referred to the special significance of this collaboration for the implementation of the strategy of computerization of the Cuban society outlined by the Cuban Communist Party.
