South Korea will strengthen cooperation in the renewable energy sector with Cuba as part of a knowledge-sharing program for the Caribbean country, the finance ministry here said Monday.

In a South Korea-Cuba forum held in Seoul, the two countries discussed ways to encourage South Korean companies to make inroads into the Cuban energy market, according to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance.

The event is part of the Seoul government's Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP), initiated in 2004 to offer its growth experience and other expertise.

The KSP for Cuba started in 2015.

"Cuba is a potential market for the medical and tourism business in the American continent," said the ministry.
