Pentagon Accuses Soldier of File Leak

The Pentagon confirmed on Thursday it could jail U.S. soldier Bradley Manning for being the main suspect in the leak of secret military documents on Afghanistan.

A spokesman from the US Department of Defense told CNN that Manning, 22, probably accessed the institution's classified materials and downloaded thousands of files he later resent by email.

An investigation is underway, and the accused soldier has not yet cooperated with authorities, according to a military press release.

The documents disclosed by the WikiLeaks website are divided into 100 categories and comprise different affairs, ranging from Osama Bin Laden's persecution to civilian deaths in the Afghanistan war.

WikiLeaks chief editor Julian Assange has refused to clarify how the website gained access to 91,000 secret files on the U.S. war in the central Asian region.
