UN Alerts on Pre-election Violence in Iraq

The United Nations raised the alarm today on violent acts against the candidates to elections in Iraq, two days before the beginning of the campaign for the elections of nearly here, March 7.
The warning was made by Ad Melkert, special representative of the UN secretary general, Ban Ki-Moon, in the Arabian country, according to a press release distibuted this Monday in New York.
The emissary of the worldwide organization condemned the attack occured yesterday in the irqi city of Mosul, that took the life of 36 years old woman, Suha Abdullah Jarallah, who was postulate for the elections.
Melkert denounced the existence of a violence campaign aimed to intimidate the candidates, who were urged to continue in the contest with no fear to harrasment and intimidation. PL Translation Staff |
